There are many religious festivals in sri lanka.. Among them vesak is one of the religious festival Vesak is a religious and cultural festival in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated on the day of the full moon in the month of May. Vesak Day is one of the biggest days of the year and is celebrated by Buddhists all over the world. ... In temples Buddhists worship, offer flowers, light lamps and burn incense.
     
        In fact traditional Vesak lanterns were made at home and had symbolic meanings. The Ata-pattama symbolises the eightfold path. The Nelum kuduwa (lotus shaped lantern) is another symbol of the Buddha. Making these were a family affair with parents, children and grandparents getting involved.
            
    Vesak also spelled vesak Sanskrit Vaishakha, Pali Vesakha, most important of the Theravada Buddhist festivals, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. The event is observed on the full-moon day of the lunar month Vesakha, which falls in April or May.

Vesak not only makes people happy but also comforts them .Many people go to see Vesak because of its beauty .Most people in the world, regardless of race, love Vesak.    I love vesak very much.. this festival is very colourful festival.
